Recent results on analysis and optimal control of phase eld models

Abstract:In this minisymposium our aim is to bring together experts working in the eld of phase
field modelling and their Optimal control. Phase field models appear in many different
application, i.e. in materials science and
fluid dynamics such as phase separation in
alloys, crystal growth, dynamics of multiphase
fluids and epitaxial growth and also
topology optimization.
Topics to be discussed are analytical and numerical aspects of phase field problems formulated with partial differential equations or also formulated with differential inclusions
or variational inequalities. We will discuss optimal control of phase field models and
phase field MPECs (Mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints), corresponding to optimization problems including phase field differential inclusions. Also topology
optimization using phase field methods will be discussed.
